Product Description

Rail shoulder is cast in the concrete rail ties to fix the elastic rail clips. There are two types of rail shoulders available: the cast-in shoulder and the weld-on shoulder, both of which are used for the secure fixing of elastic rail clips. The casting shoulders, as an embedded part of the railway fastening system, are pressed into concrete sleepers and work together with the E-clip to fasten the rail. The cast-in shoulder is manufactured through iron casting processes following international standards such as GB/T 1348-1988, ISO1038, and DIN 1693.

What Types of Rail Shoulders are Produced

The rail shoulder is a semi-embedded part cast in concrete rail ties to fix the elastic rail clip to the base plate. There are two common types of rail shoulders: Cast-in Shoulder and Weld-on Shoulder. One is the Single Stem Iron Shoulder used in pre-stressed concrete ties, and the other is the Twin Stem Iron Shoulder used in Bi-Block or Twin Block concrete ties.

Weld-on Rail Shoulder Details

The weld-on shoulder is used at typical rail positions where the shoulder is welded onto a flat steel plate rather than a standard tie plate. The production method involves hot forging according to AREA standards. The steel material can be low or medium carbon steel. These shoulders are particularly cost-effective for switch and crossing layouts where vertical rail geometry is employed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the main function of a rail shoulder?
The rail shoulder serves as an anchoring point cast into concrete sleepers or welded to steel plates to securely hold elastic rail clips, which in turn fasten the rail in place.
What are the differences between cast-in and weld-on shoulders?
Cast-in shoulders are embedded directly into concrete sleepers during manufacturing, while weld-on shoulders are forged and then welded onto flat steel plates or steel sleepers.
What materials are typically used for QT500-7 shoulders?
QT500-7 is a type of ductile cast iron known for its high tensile strength (≥500 Mpa) and excellent durability under heavy rail loads.
Can rail shoulders be customized for specific rail types?
Yes, they can be customized to fit various rail standards including UIC54, UIC60, 115RE, and other specific regional requirements.
Which standards do your rail shoulders comply with?
Our products are manufactured according to international standards including GB/T 1348-1988, ISO1038, DIN 1693, JIS G5502, and BS EN 1563.
What is the production capacity for these rail components?
The current production capacity is approximately 20,000 pieces per day, ensuring reliable supply for large-scale infrastructure projects.
